There is increasing focus on environmental issues, both globally and here in Sweden. Here at Wiges we work closely with our manufacturers to find common approaches to continuously improve our efforts to reduce environmental impact.
The EU REACH regulation has been in force since 2007 and places ever greater demands on us as an importer to keep a check on which chemicals are prohibited and which are due to be phased out.
As a customer you can feel confident in us and our products. In order to ensure that we remain at the forefront when it come to environmental issues, we are members of the Chemicals Group at Swerea IVF, from which we obtain information about laws and regulations and specialist support.
Efforts to develop and improve the work environment and working conditions among our suppliers are a high priority for us. Accordingly, Wiges, together with over 2,000 companies in Europe, is a member of BSCI – Business Social Compliance Initiative. Together we are implementing a common code of conduct based on ILO Conventions, the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, conventions on children’s rights and elimination of all forms of discrimination. Our suppliers must sign up to the code of conduct and pledge to comply with it. For more information, visit www.bsci-intl.org.
Any individual who does not care about the next generation needs to think again. Our dream is for our children and grandchildren to grow up and live in a safe and clean environment, and so we are doing all we can to reduce our impact and the destruction of our unique planet. It’s all about setting a good example, no matter what everyone else is doing. It’s as simple as that.
